Introducing Donnie

Maja’s Very Proud Grandson Donnie

Welcome to my BLOG. I am glad you are here for a visit. Come and spend some time with me as I remember my Grandma Maja and share her amazing life with you. You might have an interest in Swedish genealogy as she was born in 1897. You might have an interest in “grit” and “resilience” as that is the main theme of her story, living theough the Great Depression using these two character traits. You might say that I am obsessed with telling grandma’s story. I tend to think that the reason for wanting her to be remembered is that because she lived such a fascinating and I dare say difficult life, she deserves to be celebrated. She does not need to be forgotten as so many other women have been cast aside by historians. Grandma Maja endured great hardships, I dare say more adversity than most women of Depression Times. She was a widow at age 35 with three small children to raise. I cannot imagine.

I have writtens a whole book about Grandma Maja. My experience with the other 14 books I have published is that the chances of getting her book out into the reader world is slim using commercial resources. So, ast my age, the very lkeast I can do is to pass the book onto her book and story onto my living relatives. Next, I am going to share the essence of her story her on this blog and website. I hope to meet new friends and admirers like I have alrady found on Facebook. I have shared many photos that came from a steamer trunk I ofund in Maja’s daughter’s attic. The photos are discussion starters for me. I discuss with you, my reader, thoughts, memeories, and explain why the photo and Maja are worthy of our focus.

I am happy to meet you and as I have learned on Facebook, there are many people interested in stories like Maja’s. Her story has greatly influenced my life and I have a hunch that her story will potentially benefit yours. Welcome!
