Thanks to Grandma I became… a teacher taking time to love and understand my students.

Thanks to Grandma I became… able to cry about the plight of a widow’s grief, pain and loss.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a student of family history and how it inspires character.

Thanks to Grandma I became… ethnic and a proud Swedish American.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a student of history and the Great Depression.

Thanks to Grandma I became…appreciative of art like embroidery and sewing.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a deacon-minister bringing God’s love and hope to the struggling.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a traveler adventurer.

Thanks to Grandma I became… challenged as a parent/grandparent to encourage independence.

Thanks to Grandma I became…aware of despair and the darkness of suicide temptation.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a keeper of family secrets.

Thanks to Grandma I became… in love with Christmas and traditions.

Thanks to Grandma I became…trusting in God as a source of second wind to keep striving.

Thanks to Grandma I became… brave to tackle logjam problems to keep the flow of life positive.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a student of teamwork to accomplish formidable tasks.

Thanks to Grandma I became… expressive of love and affection before it is too late.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a positive, encouraging person ready to uplift others.

Thanks to Grandma I became… a “comeback fighter” who refuses to give in and give up.

Thanks to Grandma I became… gritty and full of gumption forcing myself to seize moments.

Thanks to Grandma I became… an inventive entrepreneur who is resourceful.

Thanks to Grandma I became…in love with all things Swedish.

Thanks to Grandma I became…deeply appreciative of the plight of immigrants.

Thanks to Grandma I became… convinced of the great power of love come alive in family life.
